Anjali, a native of Anantapur district and a former Andhra Pradesh senior level football player, embarked on a transformative journey through the Female Athlete Leadership Program. As part of our course, she not only mastered English but also spearheaded a community initiative, raising ₹25,000 to organise an internal tournament at the Anantapur Sports Academy.
Her relentless drive and newly acquired skills led her to obtain a D license coaching certification from the All India Football Federation, making her the state’s first certified female coach.
In the tranquil village of Barkheda, Madhya Pradesh, Somni Dhurwey’s life was transformed when she discovered football at the Narmada Valley Football Academy in 2019. Under Coach Kailash Raj’s mentorship, Somni progressed from novice to the captain of the Madhya Pradesh Sub Junior Girls team, eventually leading them to a national championship victory.
Despite challenges stemming from her tribal background and balancing education with sports, support from MRIDA, the Simply Sport Foundation, and her family fueled her journey. Her achievements peaked with her selection for the U17 Girls India Camp, setting her sights on national representation and community upliftment through sports.
Kareena, a hockey goalkeeper from Lucknow, is not only a talented player but a thoughtful leader in her hostel. Respected for her discipline and warmth, she naturally supports her juniors while managing responsibilities as a senior and hostel monitor. With nine years in hockey and experience at sub-junior, junior, senior nationals, and Khelo India, she leads by example.
After the menstruation workshop, Kareena made simple but impactful changes—tracking her cycle and emotions in a diary, using a hot water bag for cramps, adjusting her training on the first day, and encouraging teammates to rest when needed. She now speaks openly about periods, even with her brother, and helps others feel more comfortable with the topic.
